Around The House

residents enjoying the garden
The Garden
Featherton’s pretty secluded cottage garden is stocked with well-established plants and gives much pleasure to our residents, staff and visitors all year round. Safety features such as strategically placed hand rails allow those with a mobility problem to have full access to the garden, encouraging residents to venture outside for a stroll when the village seems just too far on that particular day.
A call pendant is available for residents to wear whilst in the garden to give confidence to those who perhaps just need that little bit of extra reassurance. All steps, corners and sharp edges are painted white to improve visibility for anyone experiencing sight problems.

The lounge at Featherton House
The Lounge
The accommodation consists of a tastefully decorated lounge with soft furnishings to complement, all in pastel shades, giving a relaxed homely feeling.
A loop system is in place for those requiring a little extra help with their hearing, and table lamps are carefully situated to support the overhead lighting and enable individual choice for additional lighting should it be required. Fresh flowers are displayed daily, as in other parts of the home.
The Dining Room
The light and airy Dining Room is also decorated in pastel pastel shades, complemented by table cloths, napkins, crockery etc chosen by the residents. Fresh flowers on the tables and pot plants on the window ledges all contribute to providing an ambience in which well-presented meals can be enjoyed.
The pre-lunch complimentary sherry ensures a good appetite while the silver service gives residents the opportunity to tailor the size of their meals and choose which vegetables they prefer from the range on offer.
It is important for our residents’ well-being that they have regular fluid intake and accordingly a variety of drinks is on offer throughout the day, fruit juices are encouraged with each meal, jugs of iced lemon or lime water are placed on all meal tables and tea and coffee are always available.
